2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake Gallery

Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake was coming for while now and we even saw the pictures and details leaked today tomorrow but the time is finally here the car that would be coupe, has its official web debut.

Come during the Good wood Festival of Speed weekend, it's sporty, sleek take on the wagon layout, with form factor that maintains its inspiration from, domed roof of coupe. Mercedes goes on to say so far.

The proportions of the CLS Shooting Brake is surprising, but clearly that of coupe, and create mindset that it looks ready for the off making , the long hood, narrow windows look with frameless side windows, windows, roof and dynamically falling back to the rear. It is only when second glance it becomes clear that the Shooting Break actually has five doors and offers more in terms of function.

Whatever the words used, the CLS Shooting Brake is an elegant, sleek interpretation of the five-doors-plus cargo area theme so much, we think that it would even have chance here on the wagon of US-hating A. But it cannot come here at all.

According to an anonymous Mercedes-Benz North America official, told Inside Line, is the business case, but the slow movement of the car, the company has gun-shy. We have not blamed them, as much as we want the CLS Shooting Brake to see on our shores. In the longer term, however, can be persuaded by public demand for Mercedes. Time will tell.

So what motivated the shooting brake addition to the design, total of four engines: two V-6, a V-8, and four-cylinder unfortunately, this is the list for the European consumer? Although it is not likely - if it should come to the United States would be alone in 3.5-liter V-6 and 4.6-liter turbocharged V-8-gown, wearing CLS 350 and CLS 500 badges.

The Europeans have a 2.2-liter CLS 250 four-cylinder diesel engine and 3.0-liter diesel CLS 350 CDI. Both rear-and four-wheel drive layouts are available. So far there is no official word on the CLS 63 AMG version of the Shooting Brake, although our spies have just seen such car in testing.

The body, however, the attention, and it should prove useful for buyers: The load capacity ranges from up to as much as 54.7 cubic feet with the rear seats - about 75 percent of the area of an M-class, without all the high Bulk-riding SUV. The CLS Shooting Brake is designed for ease of aluminum in the frameless doors, tailgate, hood, front fenders and of course much used by the engine and chassis.

The aluminum doors save only about 50 pounds over standard steel doors, In addition to the innovative design and weight of construction, offers the CLS Shooting Brake, the dynamic all-LED headlight system of the standard CLS, but found so far with the addition of the Intelligent Light System, Mercedes-only models with Xenon headlights. Adaptive High beam Assist, Mercedes' name for its automatic high beams, has adapted well with the optional full-LED system.

As for the name change of the car since the early days as Shooting Break concept, Mercedes-Benz offers up this explanation, slightly revised from previous versions:

Break, or the homonym Brake, was the name once used for carriages to the face of break in wild horses and also restrict or break their urge to move, it could put that in order to be used as work horses. Since the car could easily be broken as part of this process, people tended not to those who were badly needed for other purposes should be used.
