2013 Ford shelby launch mustang GT500

The 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, officially rated at 662 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque, has been let loose on the Nürburgring.

Unfortunately, the weather conditions weren’t all that great, meaning the driver of the Shelby GT500 was unable to extract all that the iconic muscle car has to offer.

The new unit is mostly aluminum and features a unique supercharger, new cross-drilled block and heads, plus updated camshaft profiles.

Enter traction control – it stops the rear wheels from spinning. Turn off traction control and turn on launch control. Now you can, as the 2013 Shelby GT500 comes with factory installed launch control for the first time. “Most of our competitors’ launch control systems have a fixed engine launch speed. When using the Track Apps screen,

drivers can also adjust the desired engine speed for the launch in 100-rpm increments from 3000 to 4500 rpm. Generally speaking racers and fast drivers don’t like some electronic controls such as ABS, stability control and traction control.

“We’ve given our drivers the ability to exert control over all the power and torque this Mustang can produce.”

The impressive 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, with its even more impressive engine, putting down 662 horsepower, has been recently caught on camera while being tested on the famous German track, the Nurburgring, in a power lap.
